1. Why is our duet so well loved?

The duet is inclusive of all lifestyle and cultures. During the design process we took into account the most common feedbacks from existing users of reusable containers in the market ("too small for my hot soup"; "how do i carry my hot food?"; "this is metal it can't be put in the microwave"; "it takes up too much space to store").

2. What is important to note when purchasing food from vendors?

When using your kūpaa bowl for hot food (especially soups), always place the uncollapsed bowl on a hard surface before hot food is poured in. When holding the bowl directly with hands you / vendor may unintentionally collapse the bowl, causing hot spills or accidents. Let's keep this in mind to help keep our hawker heroes safe!

3. Where can I go to physically feel and touch the duet?

We are currently partnered with Sunday Bedding Singapore Raffles City outlet as our stockist more information found here. Otherwise, do look out on our socials for any ad hoc pop up store.

4. How do I expand and collapse the bowl?

To expand your bowl:
1. Open the air vent
2. Use the tab to remove the lid
3. Pop open your bowl
4. Open the airvent, place the lid back on, close it around the rim and close the air vent tightly

To collapse your bowl and store your carrier:
1. Press down the outer rim of the bowl with both hands (without the lid on)
2. Roll up your carrier and store it in the bowl
3. Open the air vent on the lid
4. Put the lid back on the bowl and close it around the rim
5. Push in the air vent

5. How do I clean the bowl?

We recommend rinsing your bowl before its initial use. We would also recommend to wash the bowl straight (and thoroughly) after your meal to prevent stains and odour.

To clean your duet, remove the carrier, lid, and ring, and expand the bowl. Wash the bowl and lid by hand using mild soap and warm water or placed on the top rack of your dishwasher for cleaning.

To remove odour, you can soak the bowl and lid in a mixture of warm water and vinegar (50/50) for a few hours.

To remove stains, you can use baking soda:
1. Create a paste with baking soda and a bit of warm water
2. Apply the paste evenly to the bowl and scrub it in with a brush (toothbrush, dish brush etc). Make sure to apply the paste evenly.
3. Leave the baking soda on the bowl until it’s dry, which may take a few hours. You can do this at night and clean it in the morning.
4. A few hours later, rinse the baking soda off the silicone with hot water.
5. Wash the bowl again with detergent and warm water.

6. How do I disassemble/assemble the bowl?

To disassemble:
1. Open the air vent
2. Use the tab to remove the lid
3. Pop open the bowl
4. Hold the outer rim of the bowl with one hand and press it to the side, while holding the handle of the ring with your other hand and pressing it down

To assemble:
1. Pop open your bowl
2. Place the bowl ring (with the grooved side up) under the bowl and slide it up until it reaches the groove below the rim of the bowl
3. Insert the groove of the bowl into the bowl ring

7. Can I put liquids in my bowl with lid sealed with air vent pushed down in a bag?

No, there is no lock mechanism hence please do not toss the sealed bowl with lid on in your bag. The bowl is designed to be positioned generally upright accounting for gentle swings with the carrier.

8. When must I lift my air vent ands how high should I lift it?

You should lift the air vent when there is steam pressure build up in your bowl, for example when you are taking away a hot bowl of soup or microwaving food items. The gap created from lifting the air vent has no had the effect of causing spillage when it is carried with the carrier strapped on.

9. Can I put the bowl in the microwave, dishwasher, or freezer?

Yes, the bowl is microwave safe, dishwasher safe*, and freezer safe.

* If you would like to use the bowl in an dishwasher please remove carrier and plastic bowl ring prior. The carrier and plastic bowl ring are not meant to be put through high heat environment.

10. What is the bowl and lid made of?

The components of the bowl and lid in contact with your food are made from LFGB (European food safety standard) and SFR (Singapore food safety standard) certified food grade silicone. The LFGB symbol is represented by the trademark symbol of the upright spoon and fork.

Note: LFGB is generally internationally considered to be the gold standard certification of food safety standards.

11. Why do we insist on only having the highest standard of premium food grade silicone in contact with your food?

Consumption of microplastics has become a major concern for human health. Health risks include, reduced metabolism, cancer, and lower fertility. From a practical perspective, we chose silicone as it is not brittle (unlike glass) and microwaveable (unlike stainless steel).

12. Why do we insist on our premium food grade silicone to be LFGB compliant instead of only FDA compliant?

The European food safety standard is referred to as LFGB while the American food safety standard is referred to as FDA.

LFGB provides a stricter food safety standard than FDA. Being a brand obsessed with safety we chose to proceed with qualifying for a stricter standard.

We have conducted further testing to ensure that our products are compliant with the Singapore food regulations safety standard.

Please see here for a long laundry list of permitted chemicals under FDA.

13. Do you provide replacement spare parts?

We currently provide replacement parts only for Original and Serendipity duet collections to ensure your duet remains your favourite companion for years to come.

Cost will differ depending on which replacement parts you require.
