Sustainability at kūpaa

At the heart of our sustainability approach is a commitment to making a positive impact, rather than simply minimising our negative effects on the planet and humanity. As part of this commitment, kūpaa has partnered with Handprint, a regeneration platform that enables you to play a role in restoring the planet with every purchase. Every time you make a purchase, 1% of the proceeds will be allocated to support ocean cleanup projects in Bintan, Indonesia. By doing so, you not only help decrease the amount of new plastic waste but also contribute to addressing the existing plastic pollution crisis, effectively doubling your impact.

 

About Seven Clean Seas
The project aims to protect and restore the ocean by developing an efficient plastic collection and sorting infrastructure in Bintan island to recover mixed plastics via community and business level collection.

Seven Clean Seas has the mission to recover over 10,000,000 kg of plastic pollution by 2025 from the top seven worst plastic polluted countries in the world.

Our approach to packaging is not just about aesthetics, it's about our commitment to the environment. We believe that packaging should be functional, minimalistic in design, and have the least possible impact on the environment. Therefore, we have eliminated all plastic from our packaging and have opted for cardboard or paper-based materials that can be reused or recycled. For instance, we use a non-toxic, water-activated paper tape, which is recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable.

Our adoption drive is an initiative for our perfectly imperfect bowl & carrier duets. We are letting them go at a reduced price in hope they find a new home. These duets have minor aesthetic flaws due to the handcrafted stages in the creation process. But they are not compromised in terms of functionality and durability.

We have started this initiative in order to reduce waste and give adoptees a second chance at finding a home, fostering a sustainable and compassionate approach. These duets also encourage slow consumption by promoting the idea of cherishing items for their uniqueness and quality rather than their perfection.

As a Singapore-based company, we have committed ourselves to support the nation's Green Plan by taking actions to create a green, liveable, and climate-resilient Singapore.
